Hardware Structure

Despite big plans of implementing a complete interlocking with element controllers for signals, points and level crossings - not to mention the RBC - only a limited subset was realized (as it usually is). The OBU and DMI was taken pretty far, while the TMS, RBC and interlocking was realized with only very simple functionality. The figure to the right shows the structure of the hardware for Winter Train version 1.0.

The hardware of the Winter Train 1.0 was build around two major structures: a radio network and a wired network (Abus). The radio network provides communication between each train and its DMI and between the trains and the RBC, while the wired network connects the various modules implementing the RBC and interlocking functionality, the TMS functionality and link to the radio network.
